¿Qué es la seguridad humana?

Es un nuevo paradigma que busca la seguridad de las personas y no de los Estados como tradicionalmente se pensaba. 

La seguridad humana tiene dos dimensiones: la primera es la protección ante amenazas crónicas como el hambre, las enfermedades y la represión; la segunda es la protección ante interrupciones repentinas y dañinas de los patrones de vida cotidiana ya sea en la persona, el hogar, el trabajo, la comunidad o el propio medio ambiente. 

La seguridad humana es un principio básico de desarrollo, que junto con la equidad, la sostenibilidad, el crecimiento y la participación, pueden brindarnos un mundo mejor.

Sistemas de Información para la Seguridad Humana S.C., es una organización mexicana fundada en 2002 cuyo objeto es realizar investigación científica, proporcionar consultoría y capacitación a personas e instituciones u organismos públicos o privados, así como sistematizar y difundir información vinculada con la seguridad humana.

Reporte sobre seguridad humana 2009-2010

On 2 December 2010, the Human Security Report Project (HSRP) released the Human Security Report 2009/2010: The Causes of Peace and The Shrinking Costs of War.

Part I of the new Report examines the forces and political developments that have driven down the number of international conflicts and war deaths since the 1950s, and the number of civil wars since the early 1990s. It argues that the fact that these forces persist, or have strengthened, provides grounds for cautious optimism about the future of global security.

Part II examines the paradox of mortality rates that decline during the overwhelming majority of today’s wars, as well as the challenges and controversies involved in measuring indirect war deaths—those caused by war-exacerbated disease and malnutrition.

Part III, “Trends in Human Insecurity,” reviews recent trends in conflict numbers and death tolls around the world, and updates the conflict and other trend data in previous HSRP publications.
